Chief Swamp's adaptation for children of the thanksgiving address, which acknowledges and thanks all aspects of Creation.

Giving Thanks is Chief Swamp's adaptation for children of the thanksgiving address, which acknowledges and thanks all aspects of Creation. This prayer of thanksgiving is said at the beginning and end of meetings and social events, and is also said as a morning and evening prayer. Swamp’s simply worded address—“We give thanks to green grasses that feel so good against our bare feet, for the cool beauty you bring to Mother Earth’s floor”—is accessible to the very youngest listeners, who can agree, talk about it and add their own personal thank-yous. Printup’s highly stylized figures are filled with color and light.

A Spanish version is also available from Oyate
